Wife has mentioned divorce, Q’s regarding non citizenship (legal permanent resident)
I’m a permanent resident of the U.S, not a citizen yet. Moved here Aug 2012 on a K1 visa to marry my wife. We’ve been married almost 6 years, have 2 young kids and a third on the way. She’s mentioned divorce (came as a huge shock to me and it’s the last thing I would want) but I’d like some info in case the worst happens.
I’m the sole bread winner, she’s a stay at home mom with zero income, everything we own has been bought with my money/money gifted from my family back in U.K. I do my best to manage the mortgage, bills and money for food whilst she isn’t the best at handling finances. My concerns are losing the house, vehicles and kids, as both our names are on the titles. I work 50 hours a week in a physical job and then come home to do most of the chores, she’s battled depression, alcoholism and has had suicidal tendencies, although much of this isn’t documented.
She’s a great person and an incredible mother, she would do anything for our children. We’ve had less intimate time alone since the kids because they’re always sleeping in our bed, and I rarely have free time because there is always work at home to be done (honey do list). What is the likelihood that I would be able to keep my house, vehicle or kids, given the situation? I gave up everything to move here for her, and I don’t want to lose everything. I have a clean record, don’t smoke or drink, nor do I go out anywhere (literally not once in 6 years) so I can help at home.
Thank you for any help or advice.
